Memory Horizon & Vault
How your Sovereign remembers — Hot Cache, Session Recall, and optional sealed Vault.
Memory Horizon is how your Sovereign remembers: three local layers on the brain, not one opaque cloud store. Nothing here syncs to Centurion Limited.
Most owners live on the first two layers alone. Vault is optional sealed long-term memory — turn it on only when you need archives that outgrow the small always-on card.
The three layers

Default posture
Hot Cache + Session Recall run without special setup. Preferences you want in every chat belong in Hot Cache. “What did we say last week?” is Session Recall.
Leave Vault off until you understand propose/commit and want sealed archives under your passphrase. IT rollout often keeps Vault to owner-only after Remote is stable — see the Security FAQ and Onboarding checklist.
How Vault works (when you enable it)
- Vault stays on your Sovereign brain — AES-encrypted at rest, unlocked with your passphrase.
- New durable notes go through propose → commit (or reject). Vault does not auto-ingest full chat transcripts.
- While locked, Vault protects a stolen disk. While unlocked, it cannot protect against malware or root on the machine — treat unlock as a deliberate act.
Warning
Do not enable Vault on day one “just in case.” Broad sealed archives are harder to unwind than a tight Hot Cache. If memory language feels too loose, tighten Soul first — Reset & Refine Your Sovereign.
What Vault is not
- Not a Centurion cloud backup
- Not the same as Collaborations (those are mission cockpits; sealed outcomes may later inform memory, but Collaborations are not Vault)
- Not a place to dump credentials — secret-like patterns are blocked
Advanced operators can manage Vault from the brain with owner tools; day-to-day, ask your Sovereign in Crypto Chat and keep confirmations on for consequential writes.
